Central Florida development seen accelerating into 2026

Central Florida is poised for another major year of growth in 2026, with large projects moving from the drawing board into active development and signaling a broader shift in Orlando’s economy beyond its tourism roots. In downtown, mixed-use plans like Westcourt and the $2 billion redevelopment of the former Orlando Sentinel site are gaining momentum, while in the suburbs, Sunbridge in southeast Orange County stands out as a fast-advancing 27,000-acre “naturehood” that, along with corridors like Wellness Way and new transportation links between Orlando and Tampa, is expected to drive thousands of new homes, expanded infrastructure, and stronger regional job and housing markets over the coming decade.
