Turn Your Yard into a Vital Habitat: Sunbridge Recognized as the First Homegrown National Park Community
Something’s abuzz in the naturehood.
Sunbridge has been named the nation’s first-ever Homegrown National Park Community. This recognition reflects what we’ve always believed: Being good stewards of the land is one of the best investments we can make in our future.
Planting native species and designing with nature in mind has always been part of our plan, and now this distinction allows us to share our approach as a blueprint for communities across the country.
It’s not just recognition. It’s a signal to residents and future neighbors alike that putting down roots in Sunbridge truly makes a difference.
What Is the Homegrown National Park Movement?
Homegrown National Park (HNP) is a nationwide effort led by scientist and New York Times bestselling author Doug Tallamy. The mission? To regenerate 20 million acres of native habitat (the equivalent of the entire state of South Carolina) by transforming yards, parks and open spaces into thriving ecosystems.
Why the Designation Matters
If Sunbridge can do it, other communities can too. By joining the HNP movement, we’ve shown how individual yards can come together to form a network of biodiversity. This designation highlights a powerful model for conservation at scale and demonstrates how thoughtful community design can make a lasting impact on the environment. This is where you come in.
